At the University of California-Cooperative Extension, Rob provides technical assistance on improving soil quality, supporting land access and advising on urban and community agriculture programming. Prior to UCCE, Bennaton was a Community Coordinator at the New York City Housing Authority’s Garden & Greening Program where he supported 743 gardens citywide, leveraged $4.5 million in-kind resources, and spearheaded the installation of NYCHA’s first rainwater harvesting system. Working with various non-profits, he taught youth/adult staff/volunteersabout stream bank/forest restoration, led AmeriCorps teams in organic vegetable production for donation to the homeless and AIDS patients, and managed a farmer’s market.
